WARNING! ROM file information does not match system BIOS. error.
What am i supposed to do other than ignore the update ?
I also saw it just released today.

Make sure the bios file downloaded is the exact version for your board from the manufacturer’s website. Bios flash process will scan and verify the bios file and fail if it doesn’t match.
Put the file on a fat32 formatted usb stick (no folders). Boot to bios and run the bios updater program in the bios. Mflash, ezflash or similar.
Best never update bios from windows, do it from in the bios.

R5 1600X and A320M-DGS,8GB DDR4 2666Mhz
No reason in particular.
It is the exact motherboard on the site.
Not really looking to mess with flash drives and stuff so i guess i will skip a few versions and see.

A good rule to follow on BIOS updates is to NOT do BIOS updates unless you need to to resolve a specific issue that you are having with a motherboard.
True. I have always followed that but. Curiosity. And i know that can be bad.

with all the vulnerabilities with CPU’s these day like spectre and meltdown this may not be the best rule to follow anymore because newer BIOS versions do come with security patches now

There are two different downloads for 5.7, one for updating the BIOS in Windows an the other for updating the BIOS through the BIOS itself (Instant Flash). Which did you download?
Windows. Because im not looking to mess with USB’s.

I had forgotten about those, as I’m running on an AMD, and the Linux kernel was patched quite some time ago; but, you are quite right: a different perspective on BIOS updates is warranted.

AMD was and can still be vulnerable to spectre variants and after AMD withholding info about what they were affected by at first i would still not risk leaving an AMD system on a very old BIOS version. intel on the other hand is a different story

There is a version 4.81 BIOS available for the A320M-DGS
What’s the possibility that this could improve the situation for you, or have you already tried flashing that version?

такая же проблема. последняя версия биоса 2806 не распознаётся, но можно обновить до 2803. видимо из-за процессора, потому что нашел эту версию биоса в обеспечении для процессора своего r7 5700х на оф сайте |

I’m trying to upgrade from Ryzen 1600 to 3600.
When I put new 3600 CPU into my MB — it fails to even show post screen.
My MB is: Biostar X370GT7
My current BIOS is X37AG314, which is relatively old, 03/14/17
When I use Biostar BiosUpdate: the Utility shows my current BIOS and says its latest.
However, on the website for the motherboard I see many newer versions (https://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=874#download). And I see users on some forums mention those older BIOS on their X370GT7.
So I went ahead and downloaded couple latest versions, but when I try to install them, the flasher says:
WARNING!!!
The ROM file information does not match with the system BIOS!
If forcedly update BIOS, it may destroy the system BIOS!
We strongly do not suggest to flash the BIOS!
Does it mean I will brick my MB if I go ahead? Or it happens when there is a big difference between versions?
How to proceed with CPU upgrade?
P.S. Biostar CPU support info on official website does look that accurate. They declare Ryzen 1600 support since ver. X37AG623.BST. But that version is 3 months newer than my current BIOS. And I have no issues with Ryzen 1600.
UPDATE:
By doing incremental updates I was able to go few versions up till
X37AG919.BST. It is still rather old — end of 2017.
Next version gives me same warning as before.
UPDATE:
my MB turned out to have backup ROM. So in case of a problem i should be able to boot from backup. So I went ahead and re-flashed straight to the version that supports new CPU. It worked.
