Ошибка получения лицензии Citrix XenApp (500)

Citrix.

LicenseServerPortNumber = dword: 00006978
LicenseServerHostName = «имя сервера«

Вы также можете скачать ключ реестра ЗДЕСЬ. Помните, что вы должны отредактировать этот раздел реестра и изменить «имя сервера» с названием вашего сервера лицензий Citrix.

XenApp License Acquisition Error 500

by Nicky Mathew | Sep 20, 2021

Generally, the XenApp License Acquisition Error 500 displays because the member server already acquires a license before the license server failed.

In that case, it cannot properly verify if the license is accurate.

Here at Bobcares, we often handle requests from our customers to fix similar errors as a part of our Server Management Services.

Today, let us see how we can fix this error.

XenApp License Acquisition Error 500

Usually, we receive the following error when we log in to the server:

Mostly, this affects Citrix systems like Citrix Presentation Server Version 4.5, Xen App 4.0, 4.5, 5.0

After a licensing failure and subsequent recovery of the license server, individual member servers might experience issues when users attempt to log on.

This will lead to the following error message:

Moving ahead, let us see how our Support Techs fix this issue for our customers.

In order to fix this, there are two tasks we need to perform.

We need to either restart the server.

If it is not possible to restart the server, we need to complete the following steps:

  1. Initially, we launch the Citrix Computer Policy in the Citrix AppCenter.
  2. Then we browse to “Licensing | License server hostname”.
  3. In here, we add a false server name in the Value field.
  4. Click OK two times.
  5. Finally, from the command window, we run:

We then need to repeat Steps 1 to 5. However, in Step 3, we add the correct License Server name in the Value field.

Conclusion

In short, we saw how our Support Techs fix the XenApp license error.

Citrix XenApp license acquisition error (500)

    by Nik · March 17, 2018

We have recently stumbled on a strange problem regarding XenApp licensing. Our environment consists of XenApp v6.5 servers where license server has been defined via Citrix policy.

Unfortunately, on a very small number of servers we have received the following error message:

Citrix XenApp license acquisition error (500): Unable to acquire a license from (A22003B3) server. Please contact your system administrator or open Event Viewer for more details.

We are using Citrix policy to define the Citrix license server.

It appears that some of the Citrix XenApp servers did not process the license server policy successfully and thus we had to change the Citrix License Server manually on those problematic XenApp Servers.

In order to change the Citrix License Server through the registry editor here’s what you need to do:

Open Regedit on the XenApp server and navigate to the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SOFTWARE | Wow6432Node | Policies | Citrix | IMA | Licensing

In the right pane change the following values:

    LicenseServerPortNumber = dword:00006978
    LicenseServerHostName = “servername

You can also download the registry key from HERE. Please have in mind that you have to edit this registry key and change the “servername” with the name of your Citrix License server.

Citrix XenApp cannot contact the license server

It appears that the Citrix Licensing service is stopped. But when attempting to start the Citrix Licensing service on Citrix license server, the service is starting up for a short while, and then crashes and fails immediately on startup.

In Windows Application Event Viewer, the following error is logged:

    Log Name: Application
    Source: Application Error
    Date: 12/6/2011 10:10:10 AM
    Event ID: 1000
    Task Category: (100)
    Level: Error
    Keywords: Classic
    User: N/A
    Computer:
    Description:
Faulting application name: lmadmin.exe, version: 11.9.0.0, time stamp: 0x4d6bbff6
Faulting module name: lmadmin.exe, version: 11.9.0.0, time stamp: 0x4d6bbff6
    Exception code: 0xc0000005
    Fault address: 0x0005d8c2
    Fault offset: 0x0005e222
    Faulting process id: 0xf48
    Faulting application start time: 0x01d0a4b08b72ed9d
Faulting application path: C:Program Files (x86)CitrixLicensingLSlmadmin.exe
Faulting module path: C:Program Files (x86)CitrixLicensingLSlmadmin.exe
    Report Id: cb4d8b63-10a3-11e5-98e2-00155d183f2b

The error is caused by the concurrent_state.xml and/or the activation_state.xml files become unusable and the Citrix Licensing Service, lmadmin.exe, does not properly handle the unusable file and crashes.

To workaround the issue so that you can quickly restart the Citrix Licensing service to ensure that Citrix XenApp services are working fine, follow these steps:

    1. Delete the concurrent_state.xml and the activation_state.xml files located at the following folder:
      • C:Program FilesCitrixLicensinglsconf on a 32-bit server
      • C:Program Files(x86)CitrixLicensinglsconf on a 64-bit server
      • /opt/citrix/licensing/LS/conf/ on Citrix License Server VPX
    2. Restart the license server. The concurrent_state.xml and the activation_state.xml files are recreated after restarting the license server allowing the Citrix Licensing Service to successfully start and the Citrix License Server to function normally.

The issue affects Citrix License Server versions 11.6.1 build 10007 through 11.9 installed on Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2. To permanently fix the error, download and upgrade Citrix License Server to version 11.10 or higher.

    How to release Citrix Licenses

Issue: When a new user tries to logon to Citrix they receive the error: “Citrix XenApp license acquisition error from server: All licenses are currently in use. Please try again later.”

Discovery: To figure out what’s going on we need to check how many licenses are currently in use and confirm that Citrix is actually successfully pulling from your license pool.
    1) Open a command prompt on your citrix license server, type cd to get to the root of the C drive, then paste the following: cd “Program Files (x86)CitrixLicensingLS”

    2) issue the command: LMSTAT -a -c “C:Program Files (x86)CitrixLicensingMyFiles”
Or you can try it by leaving out the -c and the path.
Here we can see we have 33 licenses issued and 33 licenses in use and are all out of licenses.

    3) Lets now look at which users are consuming the licenses:
from the same command prompt window, enter the command: udadmin -list

    Resolution:
In this example, Kelly is no longer with the organization and needs to be removed from the list in order to release the Citrix license consumed by Kelly: udadmin -f XDT_ENT_UD -user kelly -delete
Note: replace the service name XDT_ENT_UD with the service name in your list, and kelly with the appropriate user name you want to remove

    Conclusion:
At this point you should now be comfortable with deactivating Citrix licenses, releasing them back into the pool for future use.

When i run udadmin -list i get no users listed whatsoever yet when you go to Citrix AppCenter there are at least 40 users listed …any help would be greatly appreciated- Thanks

Tried stop/start Citrix Licence Server Service

I there any way to release licenses for list of users( by running batch file or scripting). If yes can anyone please share the process.Because i am new to scripting.

Hi Paven, thanks for your question. I don’t have an automated method via script, however if you do find one please post the solution so others can benefit as well. Thx!

    Hi Chris Harris,

    Finally got the script

Open “PowerShell ISE” as Admin on license server and paste below script (on White portion of PowerShell console).

    $Lic_Rem = gc “C:Lic to be Removed.txt”
    cd “C:Program Files (x86)CitrixLicensingLS”
    foreach($Rem in $Lic_Rem)<

    $Rem
    .udadmin.exe -f XDT_ENT_UD -user $Rem -delete
    >
    Remove-Item “C:Lic to be Removed.txt”

    2) Create a text file under C Drive and name it as Lic to be Removed.txt . Copy all user id whose licenses you want to remove on the text file and save.
    3) Execute the script (Press F5).

Unable to paste the commands. For step 1 I had t remove the quotation marks to get to the directory and the second stop just returned: “Error getting status: Cannot find the license file. (-1,359:2 “No such file or directory”)

It appears the command prompt is case sensitive when quotes are used. I fixed the path in step 1 to be the correct capitalization. Regarding step 2 I would recommend you browse to the folder in Windows Explorer: “C:Program Files (x86)CitrixLicensingMyFiles” and check if there are *.lic files located there. Also from the command prompt you could browse to the MyFiles folder using cd commands and once MyFiles is your current folder, run the command “LMSTAT -a”, then it will assume the current path and this eliminates any path’ing issues.

A new Windows 10 installation and immediately I got spammed with event 8200 / event ID 8200 – License acquisition failure details. hr=0x80072EE7 in my event log:

    Log Name: Application
    Source: Security-SPP
    Event ID: 8200
    Level: Error
Description: License acquisition failure details. hr=0x80072EE7

Event 8200 License acquisition failure details 0x8004FE2F event id 8200

Is this a normal error that you can safely ignore? In most cases: Yes. Error 0x80072EE7 means you had no internet connection at the time of the activation or license acquisition. In case of a fresh Windows 10 or Windows Server 2019 installation, this is completely normal if you’re about to set up a wireless connection.

    How to fix event 8200

When should you not ignore this event error? If you’re visiting this blog on the same computer as which you have the licensing problem :) In that case, you’re internet is running fine, and you’re really having an activation issue. Follow the fixes below to find the cause of event id 8200 and solve your problem

    Fix 1: check your proxy

Your proxy settings may block or route your traffic. Open Internet Options, go to tab Connections, click “LAN Settings” and verify your proxy settings are correct.

    internet options check proxy settings

    Fix 2: Try a rearm

In some cases,  Windows cannot reactivate because your grace period expired (error 0xc004f009). A slmgr /rearm solves the problem. Open command prompt as administrator and type “slmgr /rearm“. Wait a few seconds and it will complete successfully. Oh, and btw: if you don’t run as administrator, you will see the following error ;)

Error 0xC004F025 Access Denied: the requested action requires elevated privileges
slmgr error 0xC004F025 access denied the requested action requires elevated privileges

Fix 3: Activate to KMS with the correct GVLK

If you’re trying to activate in your own domain, and you’re sure your KMS server is up and running, you may have supplied the wrng GVLK. Find the right KMS Client Setup Key  and enter the following commands in an elevated command prompt:
    slmgr /ipk <key>
    slmgr /ato

Fix 4: Activate to specific KMS Host

If fix 3 didn’t work,. you may want to try this one as a last resort: specify the KMS Host manually.

Still having issues? Leave a comment! I’d be happy to help!
