Macromedia

Google Chrome

Mozilla Firefox:

Mozilla Firefox Clear

Flash

Omegle is a free chat website that allows you to connect with random strangers from all corners of the world and chat anonymously.

Recently quite a few people have encountered the annoying Omegle connecting to the server error as they’re trying to get connected or whilst in the middle of a chat session.

If you run into the same issue, don’t worry. It can be easily fixed…

Here are five fixes that have helped other Omegle users resolve the Omegle connecting to the server issue. Just work your way down the list until you find the one that does the trick for you.

Fix 1: Use a VPN

Sometimes the Omegle not connecting to the server issue happens because the network you’re connected to is restricted in your region. In this case, you can use a VPN to work around this problem.

A VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a service that re-routes your Internet data through a dedicated server, hides your real IP address and tricks your ISP and Omegle into thinking that you’re browsing from a different location (hence bypassing the ban).

You can set up a VPN connection manually, but this requires a lot of time, patience, and computer skills. So it’s easier to use a VPN service, such as NordVPN.

As a top-notch VPN service, NordVPN is very easy-to-use. It helps you set up a fast, stable, and secure VPN connection anywhere, all within a couple of clicks!

If you’re not sure whether NordVPN is right for you, you can try it out for 30 days free (In fact, Nord insists you do so). During the free trial, you can always choose to opt out or stick to the service.

Here is how to use NordVPN:

  1. Download and install NordVPN.
  2. Run NordVPN, then choose a location you want to connect to.
  3. Once you’ve set up a VPN connection, try reloading Omegle and see if it loads properly now.
  4. Check Omegle to see if it opens properly. If yes, then you’ve solved the issue. If it still doesn’t help, please try Fix 4, below.

Before you commit to NordVPN, you probably want to try out the service first. Nord makes it easy. In fact, it offers a 30-day free trial, so that you can see if it’s worth the commitment. If it doesn’t work right for you, you can cancel the subscription within 30 days of the trial subscription.

Fix 2: Clear your browser cache

Web browsers use cache and cookies to store information necessary to load a website, so that it effectively reduces the loading time. But the problem is, sometimes the information may be outdated or otherwise incorrect, causing the page not opening error (in this case, Omegle not connecting). So you should clear your browser cache to see if it fixes the issue.

Here’s how to clear cache on Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Mac Safari:

How to clear cache on Google Chrome
  1. On your Google Chrome browser, press the CtrlShift and Delete keys on your keyboard at the same time.
  2. Choose a time range that you want to clear the cache, then check the Cache images and files box and click Clear data.
  3. Now with all your cached data on your Google Chrome browser removed, reload Omegle and see if the connecting to the server error has been resolved. If yes, then congrats! If the issue persists, please jump to Fix 3.
How to clear cache on Mozilla Firefox
  1. In Firefox, click the menu icon and click Options.
  2. Click Privacy & Security > Clear Data….
  3. Now with all your cached data on your Firefox browser removed, reload Omegle and see if the connecting to the server error has been resolved. If yes, then congrats! If the issue persists, please move on to Fix 3.
How to clear cache on Mac
  1. In Safari, click Safari > Preferences.
  2. Click Privacy > Manage Website Data….
  3. Click Remove All. Then click Remove Now once the confirmation window pops up. Finally, click Done.
  4. Now with all your cached data on Safari removed, reload Omegle and see if the connecting to the server error has been resolved. If yes, then congrats! If the issue persists, please move on to Fix 3, below.

Fix 3: Flush DNS and renew your IP

Over time, your computer will automatically cache IP address and other domain name system results. This is usually fine because it helps speed up subsequent requests to the same domain. But sometimes the results may have gone incorrect or outdated, hence the connection error. So you should flush your DNS and reset your IP to make sure your computer communicates with the hosts correctly.

To flush your DNS:
  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows Logo Key and type cmd. Then right-click Command Prompt when it comes up as a result and select Run as administrator.
  2. When prompted for permission, click Yes to run Command Prompt.
  3. Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter on your keyboard.
To renew your IP:
  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows Logo Key and type cmd. Then right-click Command Prompt when it comes up as a result and select Run as administrator.
  2. When prompted for permission, click Yes to run Command Prompt.
  3. Type ipconfig /release and press Enter on your keyboard.
  4. Type ipconfig /renew and press Enter on your keyboard.
  5. Refresh Omegle and see if it connects properly. If yes, then congrats! If it’s still not working, please move on to Fix 4, below.

Fix 4: Restart your network

The Omegle not connecting to the server issue may be a glitch caused by your router. So you can restart your network to see if it fixes the issue.

Here is how to do it:

  1. Unplug your modem (and your wireless router, if it’s a separate device) from the power socket.

  2. Wait 60 seconds for your modem (and your wireless router) to cool off.
  3. Plug the network devices back in again and wait until the indicator lights are back to the normal state.

If all else fails…

If you’ve tried all the fixes above but it’s still no joy, then the Omegle connecting to the server error probably occurs because of the following situations:

  1. You’ve violated the user agreement with or without you knowing. Typically when you access a website (especially an online chatting website), you need to agree to certain terms and conditions. If you violate the rules, the website has the means to throw you out.
  2. There is a server issue on the website or the website is currently under maintenance. You can check the server status of Omegle to see if other users report the very same connecting issue. If yes, there is little you can do except waiting until the developer staff restores the website.

  • The Omegle error connecting to server can happen due to many reasons.
  • First, try using the website on another device in case the issue comes from their end.
  • Since your network might be at fault, try connecting from another one.
  • You can also use a reliable VPN that will not get blocked by the website.

Fix Omegle error connecting to server

If you’re a long-time Omegle user, you might be familiar with the Omegle error connecting to the server issue.

It seems to occur randomly every now and then and doesn’t have a clear reason for happening, which makes it even more confusing.

However, you can get rid of this error message by following our easy instructions below.

What is Omegle?

In case you’re new to Omegle, this service used to be a popular website that lets you pair with random strangers online and chat.

It still is popular, only the hype is not exactly the same as back in the day.

You could talk to others by means of sending text messages (instant messaging), but you could also video and voice-chat with them.

Thus, it’s not exactly hard to see what made Omegle so appealing.

Why is Omegle not working?

From what we were able to notice, Omegle can trigger a server connection error in a few cases:

  • Your IP has been marked and you’ve been suspended from using Omegle
  • Omegle has some server-side issues that you can’t do anything about
  • Your PC or ISP might block Omegle connection attempts for you
  • Outdated configuration settings in your browser/PC (DNS, cache, cookies)

These reasons seem simple at first sight, but getting around each underlying cause can be wildly different.

Therefore, it’s quite important to rule out certain causes and isolate the correct one, if you want to save yourself some time.

Why does Omegle say error connecting to server?

There are many reasons you can meet this error, but the most likely are either because of an unstable Internet network or browsing data like cookies that may stop Omegle from working.

So if you keep getting the Omegle error connecting to the server, please try again message, the practical answer would be to change your DNS servers or even use a robust VPN connection with many servers.

How to fix Omegle error connecting to server?

1. Try using another device

This is by far one of the easiest fixes that are worth trying out. If you have another Internet-enabled device that can access Omegle, go ahead and try connecting to the service.

If you receive the same error, at least you know it’s not your device that’s triggering the Omegle server connection error.

2. Connect from another network

Even if your device doesn’t seem to be blocking Omegle, your network could still have some strict firewall rules.

If you want to rule that out, as well, try connecting from another network, if possible.

The best way (that’s also free) to achieve this is locating a public Wi-Fi, connecting to the Internet through it, and trying to access Omegle once more.

If this fix works, either your IP has been blocked by Omegle’s servers, or your ISP has some strict rules against using this service.

3. Use a reliable VPN that won’t get blocked by Omegle

  1. Purchase a premium VPN service.
  2. Download PIA on your computer.
  3. Install the VPN client.
  4. Launch PIA.
    pia login
  5. Log into your account.
  6. Connect to an optimal server (the nearest ones are usually the fastest).
  7. Try connecting to Omegle and see if you still get the error connecting to server message.

We suggest avoiding free VPNs because they’re unreliable. Private Internet Access is one of the few paid VPN services that offer 24/7 live chat support for customers.

Aside from its obvious privacy and security tools that can help you browse the Internet safely and anonymously, this service has some more features that make it worth giving it a shot.

For instance, PIA can circumvent geoblocking in just a few moments, can help reduce packet loss and in-game ping, and also bypass ISP throttling without breaking a sweat.

Last, but not least, if your IP has been banned or blacklisted by Omegle, a VPN can help you circumvent this situation. PIA assigns you a different IP whenever you connect to one of its servers.

More so, if your ISP blocks your access to Omegle, PIA can also help you dodge this rude restriction.

Private Internet Access

Tired of the Omegle error connecting to server? Try using PIA for a change.

4. Clear browser cache

This fix is more often than not as effective as turning your PC off and on again. It’s so simple to do, yet still overlooked by many.

Before you get all frustrated because of Omegle’s error connecting to the server message, try clearing your browser’s cached content and cookies.

Reload the page and see if you still experience the same issue. You could also try turning off your extensions, as some of them might conflict with Omegle.

5. Flush your DNS and reset Winsock

  1. Press the Win key on your keyboard
  2. Type CMD and right-click the Command Prompt icon
  3. Select Run as administrator
  4. Type the following commands, one by one, in this precise order:
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
netsh winsock reset

Restart your PC and check if the problem still persists.

6. Restart your router/modem

Simply unplugging your modem and/or router for a minute or so and plugging them back in can fix a lot of connectivity issues.

If you have a dynamic IP, restarting your router (depends on your subscription) can assign you a new IP address.

The downside is that you’ll probably have to wait for your connection to re-establish, especially if you’re behind a double-NAT configuration.

All things considered, if you’re an Omegle enthusiast, stumbling upon the error connecting to server message can be disappointing and somewhat frustrating.

However, more often than not, the cause of this issue is not exactly unsolvable and can be bypassed with just a bit of patience.

If Omegle experiences server-side issues, that’s the only time you won’t be able to do anything other than wait for a fix.

  1. Reopen Omegle in your browser and check to see if the Omegle “Error connecting to server” message appears.

Solution 2: Use a VPN to Open Omegle

Using a VPN can be a tricky deal and you should always consult with your network provider in order to check whether using a VPN is okay. Using a VPN is also illegal in some countries so make sure you look up on this.

Various people have reported that using a VPN to open this website made it work so make sure you choose a proper tool to handle the job.

Solution 3: Delete Flash Browsing Data

Deleting this data can be done within your browser and this is one of the major solutions to the problem as Omegle uses Flash extensively.

  1. Navigate to this link by clicking it and check under Website Storage Settings panel for the Flash loading. If it doesn’t load automatically, click on Get Adobe Flash and a popup should appear prompting to run Flash so confirm it.

omegle error

Omegle is a free messaging website allowing users to communicate without registering for a one-on-one conversation. Users are paired at random by the service, and in spy mode, users can converse secretly by using random names.

Just like any other website, Omegle also experiences hiccups every once in a while. One of the most common issues users encounter when using Omegle is “Error connecting to server. Please try again.”

After examining numerous options, we’ve produced a list of the best fixes for the Omegle issue connecting to the server. If you’re not sure how to fix the problem, try the options we’ve provided.

What Causes Omegle is the error “Error Connecting to Server”

Here are some possible reasons why you are experiencing the “Error connecting to server. Please try again” while using Omegle.

  • Omegle has either suspended or blacklisted your IP address, which is why you cannot connect to the server.
  • Omegle is experiencing a server-side issue for which you have no control.
  • Your system or ISP is blocking the Omegle connection.
  • The misconfigured browser or network settings.

First Method – Check for any Outage with your Internet Service Provider

Before you get frustrated over what’s happening with Omegle, it is best to get information from your Internet Service Provider (ISP) about any ongoing issues with their service. You can get this information by contacting your ISP or asking anyone using the same service within your area.

Second Method – Reboot Your Internet Router

You might be surprised by what rebooting your internet router can do. To do this, power off your internet router for 10 seconds and turn it back on. Sometimes, you will need to do this every time your ISP does some maintenance in their network.

Third Method – Try Using a Different Device

If you are experiencing the “Error connecting to server. Please try again” while using Omegle on your computer/mobile device, try using Omegle on a different device. This will help us isolate where the issue is coming from and know if it is isolated to one device or a problem with your internet.

Fourth Method – Clear Your Browser’s Cache

You should try clearing their cache files using a web browser such as Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, etc. Cache files are temporary files saved in the browser to help load websites faster on your next visit. Sometimes, these cache files get corrupted and may get your storage complete, causing some websites not to load or slow your computer down. Follow these steps to clear your browsers.

Google Chrome

By clearing the cache and cookies of Chrome, you delete all the saved data in the browser. This cache and data may include corrupted ones that may have been preventing Omegle from connecting to the server.

  1. Click the three vertical dots in Chrome and click “settings.”

Fifth Method – Reset Your Network Configuration

This straightforward yet effective solution will require the use of the command prompt. You’re releasing and renewing your IP address and flushing your DNS cache with this method.

  1. Hold down the “windows” key and press “R,” and type “cmd” in the run command line. Hold the “ctrl and shift” keys together and press enter. Click “OK” on the next window to grant administrator permissions.
image 119
  1. Type in the following commands in the Command Prompt and press enter every after the command:

netsh winsock reset

netsh int ip reset

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

ipconfig /flushdns

  1. Type in “exit” in the command prompt, press “enter,” and restart your computer once you run these commands. Check to see whether the “no internet, secured” issue still occurs.

Conclusion

Omegle errors could be caused by a server error on Omegle’s end. If that’s the case, fixing it may be beyond the scope of the user. The best action is to contact Omegle and determine whether they have a maintenance issue or their service is down. While this is a rare occurrence, it is feasible.

Last night, I used Omegle, the free online chat website, for the first time. I started with the text chat, but nobody was interested in having a proper conversation. Every second person on Omegle gave their Kik username, which was quite frustrating. Also, typing out long conversations and answering the frequent ASL questions was a little boring. This is why I switched to the Omegle video chat section. Everything was going well, but suddenly, Omegle showed ‘Error Connecting to Server. Please try again.’ message.

Omegle Error Connecting to Server

I solved the Captcha, changed the internet browser, and tried again. But the problem was not fixed. At first, I thought that my ISP (Internet service provider) might have blocked Omegle. Hence, I even tried with a different ISP, but that, too, was not helpful. I tried different solutions to fix the error connecting to the server message, such as using a VPN, clearing browser caches, deleting cookies, and changing the router settings. Unfortunately, none of the solutions helped me to solve the Omegle server error.

Reasons behind Omegle Error Connecting to Server Issue:

  • Cookies and Cached Data accumulation
  • Faulty and Unstable Network connection
  • Violation of terms and agreement
  • Defects in the Omegle Service Provider
  • Omegle Website under maintenance

How to Fix Omegle Error Connecting to Server

This guide lists some easy and effective solutions to solve the Omegle error connecting to the server issue. You may use any one of the following methods to successfully fix the server connection problem on Omegle.

Solution 1: Flush DNS

Every device has a special space to store temporary files from the internet. This cached data can further help websites, apps, and browsers to load faster than usual. Whether it is Android, iOS, Windows, Linux, and macOS, every device automatically caches IP address and domain name system results. Because of this DNS cache, the previously visited websites tend to speed up by retrieving the cached data.

However, sometimes the DNS cache might become outdated and corrupt. This is the main reason why websites like Omegle shows server connection error. To fix this issue, all you need to do is delete or flush the DNS cache. This will then automatically reset your device’s IP address and solve the Omegle Error Connecting to Server. Check out our detailed guide to clear the DNS cache on any device.

Solution 2: Repair Corrupted System Files

Every operating system has system files that are critically important for proper functioning. Over time, the system files might get corrupted, causing various issues. The system files can corrupt due to sudden device crashes, unexpected power outages, interrupted system updates, and malware attacks.

It is quite difficult to fix the corrupted system files. However, there are a few easy ways to repair corrupted files without using any third-party tools and software. Follow the below-mentioned instructions to repair the Windows corrupted system files using the DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management).

  • Launch the command prompt window on your PC.

Solution 3: Delete Flash Browsing Data

Every browser saves cookies which are a small part of the information given by a website to your device browser. These cookies are used to keep you logged into a website, save items added to a shopping cart, remember the flash player settings, track users’ web browsing habits, etc.

Moreover, HTTP cookies are used to improve your web browsing experience using relevant advertisements. Thankfully, every browser has a history and cookies-clearing option that can completely remove the saved cache and cookies. However, the flash player cookies are difficult to delete.

Even if you clear your web browser’s history data, the flash player cookies will remain as it is. Besides, Flash cookies can store an enormous amount of user tracking information due to the default size limit of 100 KB per website. At the same time, the HTTP cookies have a limit of only 4 KB.

Therefore, to remove flash browsing data, you need to use the Run command box in the Windows OS. Note that the flash cookies are saved in the profile folder with .sol file extensions. Hence, first, press the Window + R key to launch the Run command box.

Furthermore, enter the following path: %appdata%MacromediaFlash Player#SharedObjects and press OK. This will launch a folder with a random name. Open that folder and notice a few folders with a domain or subdomain name. Every folder contains flash cookie files.

Besides, you’ll also find some empty folders. That means the website supports flash cookies but does not save any domain information. Simply press the Delete button to remove the flash browsing data folders. Since Omegle uses the flash player, clearing the browsing data might solve the error connecting to the server problem.

Omegle
