Hello, Friends!

I’m trying desperately to get this Altiverb 7 crack to work in Ableton Live 9. I follow all the install steps from the readme (see below) and even overwrite the dlls with allegedly cracked dlls, but the plugin still doesn’t show up in ableton at all.

Any ideas as to what I’m doing wrong?

Btw this is my first post here… this forum looks sweet!

Here’s some info from the readme:

These were the install instructions from the readme:
1) Unpack
2) Run the Altiverb 7 Installer
3) Unpack the additional IRs into your IR folder

4) Overwrite the dlls with the cracks (you can delete the 32bit aax)

What worked for me is running Ableton in Windows 8 compatibility mode and pressing Alt+click on Rescan button in Preferences (under custom Vst folder option). This was known issue even on official release.

It works indeed but changing a DAW to the Windows 8 compatability mode gives a overall poor performance. Better is to use Jbridge for this cracked iLok2 stuff. Besides that JBridge handles multicore and memory in a proper way even on a Windows 10 system. Ok it costs some $ (the price however is symbolic low) but trust me….this is THE solution for a lot of (cracked) problematic VST-plugins. Try it yourself…..Cheers.

Interesting. How does JBridge help this? It looks like JBridge is used to make 32bit plugins run in 64bit and vice versa. But that’s not the problem here, is it?

I do still need to find a solution so that I don’t have to run in Win8 mode.

That’s correct. But JBridge also can convert 64 -> 64 bit plugins. These converted (JBridge) dll’s have their own memory and cpu schemes which often works better than to load the (cracked) VST-plugins directly into the host software. I have several plugins that had the same problem you are dealing with but these are working fine with JBridge in every host incl. Ableton Live.

Hello all — I’m trying to get Altiverb 7 working in Mac OS now… any tips? I install it and I get nothing… I put the vst in place, but it’s not recognized by Ableton or Logic. I don’t think the IR files are even there either. Has anyone successfully installed the crack on Mac?

Welcome to Altiverb 7 !

Install iLok software
First please make sure you have installed the latest ilok software from:
www.ilok.com
When you do not have an ilok.com account, please create one for free at ilok.com.

Get the Altiverb 7 license
If you do not have the Altiverb 7 license on your ilok account yet, you can request it here:
www.audioease.com/authorization

Then run the ilok license manager app, log in to your account and choose to activate the Altiverb 7 license to your iLok (2nd generation or up) key. Once you did this you can install and use Altiverb 7 on any Mac or PC you connect this ilok key to.

To get the latest Altiverb 7 installer, please request a link to the current downloads page at:

Full install
Check your email, open the downloads page from the link in the email and then proceed to download the latest first time full Altiverb 7 installer (that is the large 7 GB download, not the plug-in updater).

Extract the zip file with the OS default tool (macOS: Archive Utility, Windows: choose Extract All. ) and then run the Altiverb 7 installer to install Altiverb 7.
The installer will ask you where to install the impulse responses and what plug-ins to install (or at what locations, on Windows) and it will then proceed to install Altiverb 7 and all impulse responses.

Then open your DAW and you will find Altiverb 7 is available as effect ready to add reverb to your audio.

Update to latest version 7
To update an installed Altiverb 7 to the latest simply request a link to the downloads page and download the latest plug-in updater. The update installer will take care of updating, no need to uninstall or anything.

Update old 7 to the latest 7
When you are updating a really old Altiverb 7 installation to the latest you can best download the latest first time full Altiverb 7 installer (not the updater) to make sure the impulse responses (IRs) get updated to. The Altiverb 7 impulse responses core library gets updated every few years and if you update from an old Altiverb 7 it is required to re-install the latest complete IR set.

New impulse responses (IRs)
We are continuously looking for, traveling to and recording the nicest acoustics from all around the world. We add new IRs to the Altiverb collection regularly and to install these simply open the IR Browser in Altiverb 7, hit the NEWS button and Altiverb will show you what IRs are available for download. And a single click on the download button is enough to add the IR to your collection.

Upgrade old Altiverb to version 7
You can upgrade an old Altiverb version (version 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6) to version 7. Check your options at:
www.audioease.com/store/#upgrade

Follow this guide to remove Altiverb 7 from your system. Please note you do not need to uninstall when updating Altiverb 7. The installers will take care of this.

Windows
Simply uninstall Altiverb 7 via the add/remove software Control Panel.

macOS
To uninstall Altiverb 7 on Mac OS X please delete the Altiverb 7 plug-ins from here:

Did you loose track of the screen saver? The plug-in should offer to install it, but you can also download the screen saver and copy it to: /Library/ScreenSavers/

Install iLok software

Full install

Yes, you can sell / transfer your license to another user.

If you have a license stored on an iLok key please transfer this license to the new owner by using the iLok License Manager. Please note: while PACE/ iLok fees apply, there are no fees imposed by Audio Ease.

Then please send a message to support@audioease.com with the name, email address and ilok user account info of both you and the new owner.

We will then transfer the software registration at audioease.com to the new owner, so that he/she will be able to access all downloads and (future) upgrades.

You can use the software with a single license on more then one computer. Simply connect the ilok usb key with the license on it to a computer and you can install and use the software.

However you can use the software only at one computer at a time.

When you need to run the software in two locations (two rooms / two machines) at the same time this requires two licenses. This means purchasing two copies of the software. We do not offer any second license deals or discounts.

General troubleshooting

Altiverb 7, Indoor, Speakerphone 2 and 360pan suite 3 work fine using Rosetta 2 on the Apple silicon machines. The performance is great.

We are currently working on adding native silicon support to all plug-ins, to ensure future compatibility and to take full advantage of the speed of this new processor range.
As soon we have more news on this we will share it.

The latest BarbaBatch, Snapper and Make a Test Tone are all universal applications, inlcuding native support for Apple silicon.

«Speakerphone / Altiverb cannot run, because an error occurred. Encrypted Channel Bad Channel ID (or USB error or frame is an invalid size)»

Errors like these can be solved by downloading and installing the latest ilok software from www.ilok.com. Altiverb, Speakerphone, Indoor and 360pan suite require this software.

Windows Authorization Error: Altiverb 7 Regular cannot run because it is corrupted please try reinstalling the product

This error means the graphics card driver on your system is not up to date. Even when Windows states this is up to date, Altiverb 7 can generate this error and you will find there is a newer driver available (and this will solve this error).

Please try to update your graphics card driver.

Find out what graphics card you have in your system (right click on your desktop, choose change screen resolution, hit advanced settings, that would show you the manufacturer»s name and the model).
Then please go to the manufacturer»s website, hit support/drivers and find the latest driver for your graphics card and download and install this.
Restart your computer.
The problem should be gone now.

The plug-in is installed correctly (Altiverb / Speakerphone / Indoor / 360pan suite) and the ilok software is up to date and still the plug-in cannot be found in Cubase (or Nuendo).

Let’s clear Clear the Cubase vst preferences to force a re-scan of all vst plug-ins (in case the plug-in is blacklisted)

Remove all plist/xml files with VST in the file name from the Cubase preferences folder, check this post where to find the preferences folder.
Then restart your computer.
After the restart run Cubase. Cubase will now re-scan all plug-ins and it should load the plug-in again.

360pan suite

When you use the VST3 360pan suite plug-ins in Reaper you will have to verify two settings in Reaper’s preferences are properly set up, else the suite will not function properly.

In Reaper choose Preferences. from the bottom of the Options menu and then first go to:

1. Audio -> Buffering
and then TURN OFF the Anticipative FX Processing
this will ensure the 360reverb to function properly (else you will get sync problems)

2. Plug-Ins -> VST
Under VST Compatibility please set the Parameter automation notification to:
Process all notifications
this will ensure automation is written to track when you control the panner pucks from the video overlay (without the panner plug-ins being open).

3. Editing Behavior -> Automation
When recording automation and stopped should be set to: Do not add additional points.
This to ensure you can nudge the time cursor and then drag pucks and write automation this way (like in the tutorial/example project).

It could be some or all 360pan suite plug-ins are missing the first time you run Reaper after installing the 360pan suite VST3 plug-in. Reaper then needs a gentle push to see all plug-ins in the suite.

In Reaper choose Preferences. from the bottom of the Options menu and then open the VST tab in Plug-Ins:

Hit the Re-scan. button
Choose (from the popup menu) Clear cache and re-scan VST paths for all plug-ins
Quit and restart the Reaper app

The video preview in the 360monitor AAX plug-in only functions (on modern systems and recent Pro Tools versions) when the Pro Tools.app is allowed to record the computer screen in the macOS system preferences.
Make sure you set this option to fully benefit from the 360pan suite plug-ins options.

True headlocked stereo is not possible in the ambisonics audio format.
Ambisonics audio is a 3D audio sphere and headlocked (fixed) stereo sound does not fit into this.
This is simply impossible.

Headlocked mono is possible, that is the top channel only.

360pan suite offer to mix to the top channel using the position blur control.
More position blur (more mix to top) is more mono, more inhead/headlocked.
When you pan your stereo source hard left and right (-90 and +90) in the ambisonics sphere and you set the position blur to half way (somewhere between 0.40-0.60) you will find there is stereo sensation while you cannot really identify things turning when you look around in the 3D sphere.
If you move the position blur control more towards 1 you will find it will rotate less, but it will also be more mono. That is the trade off.

Altiverb 7

Problem: Installed or updated Altiverb 7 and now it does not show up in Logic.
Solution: Restart your mac.

Somehow (we are still trying to find out why) the macOS ignores Altiverb 7 until the computer has been restarted. This is why Logic (or Ableton Live, or any other DAW that uses Audio Unit plug-ins) does not show the Altiverb

Altiverb 7 Regular and XL sound exactly the same and come with the same IRs.
There are three differences:

Altiverb 7 Regular supports

up to stereo input and output
sampling rates up to 96kHz
plug-in formats on windows: aax native and vst, on mac: aax native, vst, audio unit, mas and rtas

Altiverb 7 XL supports:

up to 5.1 surround in and output
sampling rates up to 384 kHz
all plug-ins formats Altiverb 7 Regular supports + TDM on Mac OS X

So, in short, if you do not have sessions on 192k and you work in stereo only, Altiverb 7 Regular will do just fine.
If, at a later stage, you would like to upgrade from Regular to XL this is possible. The upgrade cost is just the price difference so you won’t loose any money going for Regular first.

Problem: The IR set gets downloaded when you click the download button in the NEWS section in the IR Browser. It starts downloading but then nothing happens, the set does not load or show up.

When this happens the Altiverb plug-in fails to copy/move the downloaded IR set to the Audio Ease IRs folder.
It could be Altiverb is not allowed to write in the Audio Ease IRs folder.

Solution: Try locating the folder in the finder (or explorer), hit get info and then verify your user (and the admin group) can read&write in the folder. If you make changes make sure to also apply to all enclosed items too. If this does not help, try using the default location as IRs folder:
/Users/Shared/Altiverb/IRs

You can change the IR folder location in the preferences tab in the Altiverb plug-in:

Altiverb 7 supports loading your own files as IRs.
Any wav audio file can be used as impulse response.

Simply add your file(s) to your User Created IRs folder, the default location is:
/Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/Altiverb/ *

Your third party impulse responses folders, libraries can be loaded through:
/Users/Shared/Altiverb/Third Party libraries

If you have recorded the Altiverb sine sweep to create an IR, then drag your mono or stereo recordings as wave file onto the drag and drop import window in the Altiverb plug-in. You can choose to save your IR into the User Created IRs folder.

There is a little trick you need to pull off to get this to work:

open the add fx window in Reaper on the 6 channel track
then right click on the Altiverb plug-in and make sure this option is checked:
☑️ inform plug-in when track channel count changes

When you then insert Altiverb 7 it should become 6 in 6 out and you will be able to choose the surround IRs in the IR Browser.

Most likely you were working with old older (version 7.0/7.1) IR set before and you recently installed the latest Altiverb 7 plug-in updater. This new Altiverb 7 plug-in however requires the latest core IR set.
To fix this please download the latest first time full Altiverb 7 installer and run this.
Once you installed this you will have all IRs again.

Altiverb 7 Windows Authorization Error: Altiverb 7 Regular cannot run because it is corrupted please try reinstalling the product

Please try to update your graphics card driver.

Find out what graphics card you have in your system (right click on your desktop, choose change screen resolution, hit advanced settings, that would show you the manufacturer’s name and the model).
Then please go to the manufacturer’s website, hit support/drivers and find the latest driver for your graphics card and download and install this.
Restart your computer.
The problem should be gone now.

There is a situation where the Altiverb plug-in can revert to default settings when loading a project in Digital Performer.

This is caused by the fact the Digital Performer (DP) supports three plug-in formats: MAS, AU (audio unit) and VST.

How?
Example: When you save a project with the Altiverb MAS plug-in. And you then change the default plug-in type in DP to AU and re-open this project. DP will load Altiverb, but DP fails to transfer the saved Altiverb MAS plug-in settings to the now Altiverb AU plug-in, and Altiverb then reverts to loading the default settings (which is the Teldex IR).

When this suddenly occurs you are most likely using a different plug-in format then you used before. Try to find out what you used before, force DP to load this Altiverb plug-in from the plug-in settings in the DP preferences and then restart DP and re-open your project. The right settings should load again then.

The macOS Altiverb 7.4.3 installer currently fails to install the screen saver. You can download the screen saver and copy it to: /Library/ScreenSavers/

What is the difference between the mono to stereo and the stereo to stereo options in a stereo out Altiverb ?

Best way to understand this is to go back with me to our sampling session when we recorded to room’s acoustics for the IR in Altiverb.

mono to stereo
We put a single speaker in the center of the stage and two mics in the audience.

This results in a mono to stereo IR.
When you playback your audio through this IR in Altiverb, it will sound like your audio comes out of that single speaker from the center of the stage (mono!) picked up with two microphones (stereo!).
This IR gives a stereo reverb, however the input is (mixed to) mono, as there is only a single source on stage.

When you want to process a vocal (mono) or direct recorded electrical guitar or something where the panning is not important the mono to stereo IR will do just fine (pro: costs half of the processing then a stereo-to-stereo IR, so it is more efficient in cpu and memory).

back to recording the room
this time we put two speakers on stage, one on the left and one on the right side of the stage and we record again with the two mics in the audience.

When you playback your stereo audio through this IR in Altiverb your stereo signal comes out of these two speakers.
Easy to picture here that your original panning will be maintained using a stereo to stereo IR.

So basically it comes down to this:
is your input stereo or is it panned in stereo ?
use a stereo — stereo IR, else you will loose the stereo information in the reverb (although the reverb is stereo).

Sometimes even when using stereo panned sources a mono to stereo IR can be preferred as you do not want the panning to be reflected in the reverb levels. But this is a mixing decision which depends on taste mostly (and music style) and I dare not to advice on that 🙂

We have removed some sets from the Altiverb IR library (mainly user submitted IR sets) that do not meet up to our current standards. The Speakers and Phones set is one of these. You can copy the original set from your Altiverb 6 Impulse Responses folder (if you still have this) to the Third Party IRs folder in the Altiverb 7 Impulse Responses folder.
Then you can then load these IRs again in Altiverb 7.

Speakerphone

Speakerphone 2 can currently cause CPU errors in Pro Tools when Pro Tools uses HDX hardware.
On HDX hardware Speakerphone writes large log files due to an error. In the latest Pro Tools versions (since 2019.11) this causes errors.

Solution:
Proceed to the downloads page to download the special speakerphone-disable-logging.app and run this.
Speakerphone will no longer write log files and the problem should be gone.
Of course in a future Speakerphone update the extensive logging on HDX system will be removed.

By granting this directory read & write permissions for all users an admin user can enable all users on Windows to use the Speakerphone VST (or AAX) plug-in:
C:ProgramDataAudio EaseSpeakerphone

Without setting this Speakerphone will crash when a non-admin user tries to use the plug-in.

The challenge/response hard disk authorization is only available in the older (32 bits only) Speakerphone 2.0.5.
You are free to use this one instead of the latest, the 2.0.5 installer is available from the downloads page.

We strongly discourage running this old Speakerphone 2. This version will not be updated anymore. We recommend to use the latest Speakerphone 2.1. This one does require the iLok (2nd generation or up) key yes. Whenever your ilok key breaks or you loose it, we will always help you (supply a new license for a replacement key).

Most likely the Speakerphone 2.1 installer removed the resources from an older Speakerphone 2.0.5 installation however the installer failed to remove the Speakerphone 2.0.5 RTAS plug-in. When Pro Tools 10 now loads the Speakerphone 2 RTAS you get this error message. Then later Pro Tools scans the AAX and decides not to load the RTAS anymore.

Solution:
We need to fix this in the installer of course, but when you delete the Speakerphone.dpm (the RTAS plug-in) from: /Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-Ins/ this error message will be gone.

Snapper

Snapper could act weird on your macOS system. In these ways: Snapper does not (always) appear when selecting audio file or Snapper crashes on quitting the application or preferences are not recalled properly.
Some check box has to be checked in the Mac OS System Preferences to ensure Snapper works properly. Maybe this somehow did not work on your system.

Please try this:

first quit Snapper (make sure it is not running)
then delete the Snapper preferences file: com.audioease.snapper.plist. This file is the Preferences folder in the User Library. Open the Mac Finder, hit the GO menu, hold down the option (ALT) key and a link to the Library folder will appear. Go to the Preferences folder and delete the file.
then please restart your mac (important)
now run snapper
open the mac os system preferences
go to the security and privacy settings panel
then to the privacy tab
select the accessibility panel on the left
open the lock on the bottom left (and fill in your password) to make changes
if Snapper is listed here, please select it and hit the — (minus) button to remove it from the list
now quit and run snapper and it should be added to the list again
make sure the box for Snapper is ☑️ checked. If it IS already checked then please un-check and ☑️ re-check it
quit and start Snapper

Snapper opens when you select any file that contains audio, also video files.
This sometimes is a problem, when you want to use the space bar to quickly preview the video in the finder.
There is a simple hack for this:

Use: SHIFT + SPACE BAR to preview the video

This works, even when Snapper is showing you the audio waveform of your selected video in the finder.

долго искал решение данной проблемы в интернете, но пока сам не полез исправить не удалось.
Вот решение проблемы (которое помогло мне):

1)После того как аблетон выдал вам эту ошибку A serious program error occurred. (…..Application Data/Ableton/Live/Preferences/log.txt) (там будет текстовый документ, открываем его)

2) идем в самый низ этого файла и смотрим последнюю запись

3)Там будет написано приблизительно следующее:
…..(НАЗВАНИЕ ВСТ из-за которого вылетает программа и надпись на против него ФАТАЛЬНАЯ ОШИБКА!(только естественно это всё на Английском)
у меня вылетала ошибка из-за VST Vanguard

4)далее идём в в папку где у вас хранятся ваши VST ( у меня это C:Program FilesSteinbergVstPlugins)
и убираем DLL файл инструмента из-за которого у вас была ошибка. У меня это был Vanguard

5)запускаем ваш проект которы до этого не открывался (он теперь открывается)

6)находим дорожку на которой был установлен проблемный инструмент и удаляем его от туда

7)сохраняем проект (уже без проблемного вст)

теперь ваш проект будет открываться без проблем!!!

А еще такой вопрос, если вас не затруднит, не могли бы написать точнее что должно быть написано на английском, у меня просто ничего подозрительного, похожего на то что вы описали.)) Заранее спасибо :victory:

Спасибо за подсказку. У меня выяснилось, что ошибка в Out of memory. Очень странно, что её не хватает. Всего 4Гб, из них используется приложением около 1600000 Кб. Вылет происходит чаще всего в процессе заморозки трека. На VSTшки не ругался….

П.С. вопрос решился — он ругался на недостаток памяти на жестком диске :blink:

Если ошибка «A serious program error occurred» выскакивает из-за какого либо ВСТ, то делаем всё как в первом посте (удаляем, переустанавливаем…)

Если же проблема вызвана нехваткой памяти, «Out of memory», и проект вообще невозможно открыть, то поступаем следующим образом:

1. Переносим один из основных ВСТ инструментов проекта из папки установки например на рабочий стол ( в моём случае это был Сайлент)

2. Запускаем проект. Выскакивает сообщение о том, что инструмент не найден. Жмём окей. И теперь проект открылся! (т.к. память уже не нагружается этим инструментом)

3. Переводим некоторые дорожки проекта в Аудио материал, и удаляем их предшествующие миди версии с инструментами (в моём случае это были 2 пэда с нексуса).

4. Сохраняем проект, закрываем. Забрасываем папку с инструментом обратно в папку установки ВСТ.

5. Открываем проект и спокойно работаем) Периодически переводя некоторые завершённые дорожки в аудио для экономии памяти.

Ого, столько время прошло, а тема еще актуальна?!

Обновился до Ableton 9.1.5. При выходе стала вылезать ошибка «A serious program error has occured». Пробовал отключать VST, отключать MIDI интерфейсы, проверил память. Не помогает. Вообщем, конечно это не фатальная ошибка во время работы. Но как-то надоедает каждый раз видеть эту хрень и всякие там отчеты о креше.

У меня такая ошибка выскакивает когда я пытаюсь вст Сайлент добавить на миди дорожку. Но у меня это происходит не от перегруза, как писалось выше, так происходит даже в пустом проекте в новом. При чем Сайлент разных версий ставил, и аблетон переставлял, ничего не помогает. У десятков тысяч людей эта связка прекрасно работает.
У меня один раз открывается сайлент, при первом запуске абла после установки, а потом все ошибка при всех дальнейших попытках. Что делать, как быть…

@Alexs7, аналогичная беда сегодня приключилась. Открыл новый проект и решил поиграться с сайлентом, но не тут то было, вылезла ошибка. Что произошло понять не могу, на протяжении длительного времени все прекрасно ладило.

Проблема успешно решена, все дело в антивирусе. Нужно добавить папку с DAW в исключения антивируса и все снова заработает.

Товарищ Модератор, закрепите эту тему пожалуйста, я да и многим другим думаю будет очень полезно это знать. Вопрос не частый но всё же проблема есть и не все знают как с ней бороться.

Здравствуйте! Скачиваю плагин, открываю экзэ файл(он там один) и плагин устанавливается самостоятельно без выбора пути на С диск. Конечно же он не работает,захожу в эту папку, dll файлов нету.Просто установленный плагин который фиг знает как использовать.Много раз сталкивался с такой проблемой.Кто-нибудь знает что делать?Есть-ли какое-нибудь решение?Заранее спасибо!

Problem with Altiverb 7.2?

I’ve installed Altiverb 7.2 for windows on my system and had this error come up and shut down Reaper every time. I’ve tried re-downloading a new installer, un-installing and re-installing, un-installing and re-installing Ilok but the plugin does this error every single time and Audio-Ease’s help has been far from amazing and since they are in the netherlands I only have until about 10AM everyday to get help because I’m guessing they go home around 4 or 5 because I never get help past that and none on weekends which is frustrating. Any help or direction is helpful and thanks…

Geez, I dropped all uses of any Ilok nonsense.

All my applications and VST’s/ VSTi’s are all Ilok free.

I had enough of their BS over the year and a few years ago got rid of all Ilok crap I had and never went back.

Eventually those companies will isolate themselves to a point where they become like Motu, where in the end they were forced to bring Digital Performer to Windows 7 due to Apple going south with the Desktops and going to Cell phones. By then it was too late for Motu as too many Daw’s now on Windows.

The Motu example clearly shows some companies are not only silly, but they do not have a clue as to where the massive numbers of users are.

This is the reason now why 99% OF ALL APPS are coming for windows only these days. Since the Intel switch ( Apple’s monopoly death) every company who used the Mac to protect their Apps are now scrambling to get their products into Windows or they risk death!!..

Altiverb are no exception.

you don’t get all the pretty pictures but you do get ultimate tweaking control of the IR’s. Cheap too.

It’s the library Hopi, and the switching between setting slots in the plugin that can be automated.

There are probably few mixing stages for films that don’t have it because of that feature of being able to automate the changing of impulses(and every other parameter).

Can the Liquid Sonic plugin(which is awesome) automate the switching of impulses and other settings ? If so, it’s a candidate to replace Altiverb. Of course it would’nt hurt to have an impulse library of similar or better quality as well. The post guys are pretty well treated with impulses for their purposes.

Shame about the errors. Hope it’s fixed quickly.

Ah… I see. Did not understand that ability and the desire for it.
Now I don’t want to argue at all but just discuss a little:

I had some experience with Alti a few years back. Yes, nice IR’s but also …well let’s say, rather proprietary, eh?

This is not the case with Reverberate. Fortunately there are some lovely IR lib’s for it. Some are free, some are not. And the free ones are excellently done.

Also, IMHO, the ability tweak them and even to mix parts of one and parts of another are [I think] unique to Reverberate.

That leads to the next thought, in that let’s say you do that and then save it as a preset.
Then you could have various instances loaded, each with your selected and tweaked IR as a named preset and then you could automate the bypass of each one andor the wet, and or the gain of the plugin’s mixer…
So perhaps that would be a way to use diff IR’s along time?

But I know, the OP’s issue is just getting Alti to work… so sorry for the OT.

Are you sure that you have the latest iLok Manager? Have you tried to reboot your PC after all of this? clear cache and rescan?

For what it’s worth, all worked well on my install this week under Win8.1-64…and I notice that Reaper 3 & 4 have been tested by Audio Ease for Altiverb 7.

Yep, new Ilok manager downloaded for sure. I’m on Windows 7 not 8 but I would think 7 is still the norm so I wouldn’t think that would be the issue either. Altiverb sent me 2 different Altiverb 7 dll’s this morning to try and both did the same error. They said 5 people have reported this error but they can’t reproduce it and I sent them my system information this morning to help them try and figure it out.

Initially they were telling me that it was an Ilok thing but I updated everything and reported back and then they said that they found out it was on there side and that I had to wait for an update. You are right, it had something to do with authorization but apparently not on Ilok’s side of things. They didn’t tell me much beyond that…

Altiverb 7

Since all the replies on this thread are 4 years old, I have a new question.
We are adding Altiverb 7 to Reaper. It does not seem to work. We do have this running on a separate system and it runs fine, but they are older versions of both programs.
The FX are added and the controls seem to adjust, but Reaper does not seem to respond.
These are new installs on a new computer running Mac OSX 10.12 with 500 GB hard drive and 16 gigs of ram.
Other program installed is Hauptwerk. This will be used to add various reverb IR’s to the Haupterk sample set.

Musical gates and delays

To tie your reverb effects more to your tracks Altiverb 7 features a reverb gate that is set using note values. And it is tied to your song’s tempo. Brightness and Chaos

The Brightness parameter closely fits a classic synthetic reverb on top of the Impulse Response. This adds a particular brightness in a way EQ never can. Toss in a bit of chaotic modulation in your reverb and not every hit will sound identical in the reverb. Slightly out of tune notes will be covered up in the reverb tail by modulation.

Extract the zip file with the OS default tool (macOS: Archive Utility, Windows: choose Extract All…) and then run the Altiverb 7 installer to install Altiverb 7.
The installer will ask you where to install the impulse responses and what plug-ins to install (or at what locations, on Windows) and it will then proceed to install Altiverb 7 and all impulse responses.

Then open your DAW and you will find Altiverb 7 is available as effect ready to add reverb to your audio.

Installer damaged and can’t be opened

Here’s what you can do when the newly downloaded installer fails to run because the macOS reports the downloaded installer failing verification (or reports it is damaged and cannot be opened).

Make sure you use the macOS default ‘Archive Utility‘ to open the downloaded zip file (other utilities could corrupt the installer app while unpacking the zip file).
Please check if there is a security update available for your macOS and please install this.
Open Safari and check if you can visit https://www.audioease.com.
When you can visit the website in Safari, then please retry downloading the installer. If the download fails to run, you can try using a different browser. Any of the following: Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Safari, will do.

zip file unzipping fails on Mac

Perhaps the download is broken, in which case a new download with another browser may work. Otherwise the solution may be to use Terminal, a built-in program on the Mac.

Make sure you use the macOS default ‘Archive Utility‘ to open the downloaded zip file (other utilities could corrupt the installer app while unpacking the zip file).
In case that does not solve it, open Terminal. You can use the Mac search at the top right and start typing Terminal. It will appear, click on it to open the program.
Type “unzip” and a space, then drag/drop the zip file into the Terminal window.
Press Enter and the zip file will be unzipped, storing all files on your computer.

Install iLok software
First please make sure you have installed the latest ilok software from:

You can use the software with a single license on more then one computer. Simply connect the ilok usb key with the license on it to a computer and you can install and use the software.

General troubleshooting

Native Apple silicon support

Altiverb 7, Indoor, Speakerphone 2 and 360pan suite 3 work fine using Rosetta 2 on the Apple silicon machines. The performance is great.

The latest BarbaBatch, Snapper and Make a Test Tone are all universal applications, inlcuding native support for Apple silicon.

In case your iLok key is lost, stolen or broken we will help you out right away, even in case you have not invested in additional insurances or coverage at ilok.com.

Send a message to support@audioease.com and we will provide you with a 30 days expiring backup license so you can continue your work immediately when you have a spare ilok key.

Pro Tools error: not a valid 64 bits plug-in

Most likely the installer or the plug-in got corrupted in transit. Please download the latest updater installer on the computer you want to use it on. Then move the downloaded zip file on the desktop and there choose to extract it using the Mac OS X default Archive Utility app. Once you did this please run the updater installer from the desktop to install the correct aaxplugin and this should cure the problem.
The aax plug-in can get corrupted when transferred on some external (or network) drives. The plug-in won’t validate properly then.

Authorization Wire Exception

«Speakerphone / Altiverb cannot run, because an error occurred. Encrypted Channel Bad Channel ID (or USB error or frame is an invalid size)»

Errors like these can be solved by downloading and installing the latest ilok software from www.ilok.com. Altiverb, Speakerphone, Indoor and 360pan suite require this software.

Windows Authorization Error

Windows Authorization Error: Altiverb 7 Regular cannot run because it is corrupted please try reinstalling the product

Please try to update your graphics card driver.

Plug-in not found in Cubase / Nuendo

The plug-in is installed correctly (Altiverb / Speakerphone / Indoor / 360pan suite) and the ilok software is up to date and still the plug-in cannot be found in Cubase (or Nuendo).

Let’s clear Clear the Cubase vst preferences to force a re-scan of all vst plug-ins (in case the plug-in is blacklisted)

Remove all plist/xml files with VST in the file name from the Cubase preferences folder, check this post where to find the preferences folder.
Then restart your computer.
After the restart run Cubase. Cubase will now re-scan all plug-ins and it should load the plug-in again.

360pan suite

HDX hardware & 360reverb

When using HDX hardware the Hybrid Engine needs to be Enabled for the private (pre-fader) sends from the 360pan plug-in to the 360reverb to work.
When the Hybrid Engine is disabled the distance cannot be controlled for a panned source. The 360reverb does work as normal reverb insert/aux effect on HDX systems with disabled Hybrid Engine.

Essential Reaper preferences

When you use the VST3 360pan suite plug-ins in Reaper you will have to verify two settings in Reaper’s preferences are properly set up, else the suite will not function properly.

In Reaper choose Preferences… from the bottom of the Options menu and then first go to:

1. Audio -> Buffering
and then TURN OFF the Anticipative FX Processing
this will ensure the 360reverb to function properly (else you will get sync problems)

No (or not all) 360pan suite plug-ins Reaper ? Clear cache

In Reaper choose Preferences… from the bottom of the Options menu and then open the VST tab in Plug-Ins:

Hit the Re-scan… button
Choose (from the popup menu) Clear cache and re-scan VST paths for all plug-ins
Quit and restart the Reaper app

Stereo music (headlocked, fixed stereo) in ambisonics

True headlocked stereo is not possible in the ambisonics audio format.
Ambisonics audio is a 3D audio sphere and headlocked (fixed) stereo sound does not fit into this.
This is simply impossible.

Headlocked mono is possible, that is the top channel only.

Altiverb 7

No Altiverb 7 in Logic after installing/updating

Problem: Installed or updated Altiverb 7 and now it does not show up in Logic.
Solution: Restart your mac.

What is the difference between Regular and XL ?

Altiverb 7 Regular and XL sound exactly the same and come with the same IRs.
There are three differences:

Altiverb 7 Regular supports

up to stereo input and output
sampling rates up to 96kHz
plug-in formats on windows: aax native and vst, on mac: aax native, vst, audio unit, mas and rtas

Altiverb 7 XL supports:

up to 5.1 surround in and output
sampling rates up to 384 kHz
all plug-ins formats Altiverb 7 Regular supports + TDM on Mac OS X

Extra IR set download problem

Problem: The IR set gets downloaded when you click the download button in the NEWS section in the IR Browser. It starts downloading but then nothing happens, the set does not load or show up.

When this happens the Altiverb plug-in fails to copy/move the downloaded IR set to the Audio Ease IRs folder.
It could be Altiverb is not allowed to write in the Audio Ease IRs folder.

Solution: Try locating the folder in the finder (or explorer), hit get info and then verify your user (and the admin group) can read&write in the folder. If you make changes make sure to also apply to all enclosed items too.
If this does not help, try using the default location as IRs folder:
/Users/Shared/Altiverb/IRs

You can change the IR folder location in the preferences tab in the Altiverb plug-in:

Import / add IRs, impulse responses

Altiverb 7 supports loading your own files as IRs.
Any wav audio file can be used as impulse response.

Simply add your file(s) to your User Created IRs folder, the default location is:
/Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/Altiverb/ *

* Please note the MacOS system hides the Library folder in your user folder. You can still open this folder through the GO menu in the Mac finder. Then hold down the option (alt) key and a link to the User Library will magically appear.

Your third party impulse responses folders, libraries can be loaded through:
/Users/Shared/Altiverb/Third Party libraries

Surround in Reaper (Altiverb 7 XL)

There is a little trick you need to pull off to get this to work:

open the add fx window in Reaper on the 6 channel track
then right click on the Altiverb plug-in and make sure this option is checked:
☑️ inform plug-in when track channel count changes

When you then insert Altiverb 7 it should become 6 in 6 out and you will be able to choose the surround IRs in the IR Browser.

Altiverb recalls only Teldex IR in Digital Performer (DP)

There is a situation where the Altiverb plug-in can revert to default settings when loading a project in Digital Performer.

This is caused by the fact the Digital Performer (DP) supports three plug-in formats: MAS, AU (audio unit) and VST.

What is the difference between the mono to stereo and the stereo to stereo options in a stereo out Altiverb ?

Best way to understand this is to go back with me to our sampling session when we recorded to room’s acoustics for the IR in Altiverb.

Windows use Speakerphone as non-admin user

By granting this directory read & write permissions for all users an admin user can enable all users on Windows to use the Speakerphone VST (or AAX) plug-in:

Without setting this Speakerphone will crash when a non-admin user tries to use the plug-in.

Snapper

Snapper does not appear when selecting audio files

Please try this:

first quit Snapper (make sure it is not running)
then delete the Snapper preferences file: com.audioease.snapper.plist. This file is the Preferences folder in the User Library. Open the Mac Finder, hit the GO menu, hold down the option (ALT) key and a link to the Library folder will appear. Go to the Preferences folder and delete the file.
then please restart your mac (important)
now run snapper
open the mac os system preferences
go to the security and privacy settings panel
then to the privacy tab
select the accessibility panel on the left
open the lock on the bottom left (and fill in your password) to make changes
if Snapper is listed here, please select it and hit the — (minus) button to remove it from the list
now quit and run snapper and it should be added to the list again
make sure the box for Snapper is ☑️ checked. If it IS already checked then please un-check and ☑️ re-check it
quit and start Snapper

This works, even when Snapper is showing you the audio waveform of your selected video in the finder.

In general, it feels way more performant than LinVst, and it doesn’t have some keyboard/mouse glitches that I suffered with LinVst (for example, clicking or dragging with the Ctrl key)

If you can test it with TestVst and get an error then it’s Wine not being able to handle it for some reason.

If you run TestVst from a terminal and look at the output then sometimes there can be an unimplemented function error in some dll and that dll can be overriden and then see what happens.

There are Wine errors.

Altiverb 7 seems to use ilok and I don’t think that’s going to run with Wine.

Altiverb 7 requires the iLok USB Key (2nd generation or newer).

Actually, even if you will be able to «bypass» iLok — you still won’t be able to initialize / load Altiverb 7, i think it’s d2d1.dll problem…

Huh…Really? Should try it out 👍

Plugins running in one process are not sandboxed, so if one plugin crashes then the whole lot might crash.

Although that part doesn’t sound very happy 😄

Импульсная характеристика — это образец реверберации, генерируемой рассматриваемым пространством / механизмом в ответ на определенный звук — синусоидальная волна в случае библиотеки IR Altiverb. Сворачивая (комбинируя) этот импульсный отклик с аудиовходом, имитируется невероятно аутентичная реверберация. Это всё об Altiverb, если в двух словах.

Счастливая семёрка

Altiverb 7, выпущенный в конце прошлого года (почти через пять лет после Altiverb 6!), Содержит умеренное количество функциональных улучшений, а также капитальный ремонт пользовательского интерфейса. Ушла в прошлое искусственная установка в стойку, заменив ее более простой и современной компоновкой, при которой основные элементы управления всегда на виду, а «более глубокие» скрываются в выдвижных ящиках.

На самом деле они оказываются довольно бессмысленными, поскольку пустая область интерфейса, в которую они вставляются, без них занимает не меньше места, поэтому вы можете просто оставить их все открытыми.

Что еще более важно, для навигации по Altiverb 7 и пресетам теперь используется новый браузер изображений, всплывающее окно с изменяемым размером, которое может похвастаться гораздо большей функциональностью, чем его текстовый предшественник.

Также теперь есть встроенный гейт, время закрытия которого может быть установлено в синхронизированных с хостом делениях ударов или в секундах / миллисекундах — как, действительно, может быть длина недавно упрощенных параметров Pre-Delay и Attack.

Применение эквалайзера стало более интуитивным благодаря добавлению интерактивной графической кривой эквалайзера, а новые элементы управления модуляцией (скорость и глубина) позволяют слегка рандомизировать ранние отражения, чтобы добавить немного естественных вариаций к реверберации и «облаку» слегка расстроенные ноты. А улучшенный позиционер теперь дает в 10 раз больше места на сцене для чрезвычайно гибкого позиционирования источника в виртуальной среде, как слева направо, так и спереди назад.

У Altiverb 7 всегда была возможность загружать любой аудиофайл как IR, но теперь это можно сделать с помощью перетаскивания — хотя результаты различаются с точки зрения удобства использования.

Чем больше меняется…

Новый интерфейс не намного проще в навигации и использовании, чем раньше, но он чище. Why won’t Live 9 recognize Altiverb 7 after update to 7.1?

I seem to remember this being a problem before, and I can’t remember if it turned out to be the fault Altiverb makers Audioease, or if it was Ableton.

Anyways: I had Altiverb 7 installed, and have used it in a couple of projects. I just updated to 7.1.2, and now Live 9 says the plug-in can’t be found when I open the projects where I use the plug-in.

Why won’t Live recognize Altiverb? It is still called «Altiverb 7», as is clearly seen when I search for the plug-in.

This is very annoying, because naturally I don’t remember the preset I used, the settings I used etc. for Altiverb …

Any clever solutions for this problem?

It works if I add Altiverb to a new project and save that — this reopens fine.

But if I try to open a bit older project (any of the ones from over 6 years), it says it can’t find Altiverb. Also, Audioease update Altiverb 6 to 7 so that the plugin id is same — all the old projects use Altiverb 7 as well. Or would, if they would open. So I can’t open them with any older version.

Anyone figure out why this happens or how to fix it? I’m having the same issue in Live 10 with Altiverb 7 after updating from 7.3.5 to 7.3.6.

For this issue, the only solution I know that works with newer and older versions of plugins, is to have, in your case, both 7 and 7.1.2 versions installed. That way your older projects pick up the 7 version and if you want to «upgrade» them to 7.1.2 just make a new copy of 7.1.2 in those projects and transfer the settings manually or via creating/saving presets from the 7 version.

Here’s what I received from Altiverb tech support:

From Altiverb 7.0 to Altiverb 7.1 the Altiverb plug-in changed from Audio Unit plug-in format (internal). Any Audio Unit host could deal with this, except Live. We asked Ableton repeatedly to fix this, but they were not interested. If you now did an update to the latest Altiverb 7 and you were using Altiverb 7.0 before, then sorry, your projects cannot open with this modern Altiverb 7, nothing we can do about this.

Ableton, PLEASE FIX THIS.
